We supply machines and automation for the production and further processing of battery metals on a wide scale for all parts of the processes, starting from the reception of the raw materials to their transfer, dosing, weighing and packaging of the final products. Our customers are manufacturers of battery metals and battery cathode materials as well as battery recycling companies. Processed materials include, for example, cobalt, nickel, lithium, manganese, the precursor of cathode materials and the so-called black pulp.
The proliferation of various electric vehicles and other electrical devices has exploded the need for battery production and raised the battery industry to an upward trend. The battery industry needs e.g. sack handling equipment and dosing systems for processing, storing and the transporting of cathode materials and their precursors used in the manufacture of lithium ion batteries.

We deliver sustainable solutions to the battery industry
We have made versatile use of our extensive experience for the various weighing, dosing and automation solutions over the past few years, by making several equipment deliveries to companies operating within the battery industry. The delivery entities have included unloading and loading stations for big bags, loading stations for IBC containers, a mixing reactor, LIW feeders (Loss in Weight) and totalizing hopper scales, floor scales, cup and conveyor belt scales.
In addition, we have delivered the necessary local control centres and software with their own user interfaces. With these connections that it is possible that parent systems can be managed in an agile manner according to the customer’s needs, and then they fulfil the requirements of reporting and function data. To ensure a smooth start of the production, we have also provided installation supervision, commissioning and training.
As an example of the deliveries, Lahti Precision supplied to the Fortum’s hydrometallurgical recycling plant, which is under a construction in Harjavalta a demanding weighing and dosing technology for the processing of the main-raw material flows. In this way, Lahti Precision participates in the building of the ecosystem for the Finnish and European battery industry, as well as increasing the self-sufficiency in Europe and in Finland.

The digital service takes over material flows also in the battery industry
We have developed our in house digital mScales weighing service which provides up-to-date information on material handling and weighing to all stakeholders, regardless of location. The mScales service can also be integrated into the company’s business systems, so that data is transmitted in a fully automated manner, without the possibility of human error, including for inventory management or invoicing purposes, for example. The goal is to comprehensively monitor the material flows and use the data collected from it to manage the material flows. The mScales service can also be widely used by battery industry companies.
